At a press conference held yesterday, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) CEO Tariq Ikram expressed concern over certain factors posing challenge to Pakistani textile goods. These factors could make this fiscal's textile export target difficult to reach.
He added that private sector must take steps to help achieve the target for entire year, to tackle the crisis in export of textiles.
Areas in which textile products had strong sales or poor performance cannot be ascertained because total textile export figures consist of detailed country as well as sector wise figures.
Support of Central Board of Revenue and Federal Bureau of Statistics was sought to upgrade the trade figures compiling system, which is now on track.
Speaking on growth in textile exports during November 2006, Ikram conveyed that less competition from other nations could be responsible for it. He opined that upward trend will cease in the near future.
R&D support and loans are provided by Government to improve the situation in Pakistan's textile export sector.
