Nuance to create new business division 'Retail Services & Distribution'

The Nuance Group is creating a new business division called “Retail Services & Distribution” designed to exploit business opportunities beyond the traditional airport retail market. Carlo Bernasconi will be heading up the new division as CEO. His successor in the function of Executive Vice President Business Development & Strategy is Ivo Favotto who will be joining Nuance from URS Corporation in April.

The new Retail Services & Distribution division will offer a broad range of retail services but also the supply of goods to any potential business partners. Carlo Bernasconi, former CEO Europe and current Executive Vice President Business Development & Strategic Marketing is to head the new division as CEO. He will at the same time continue to be in charge of the Group's Category Management and remain a part of the Executive Management Team.

From May 2007, Ivo Favotto will succeed Carlo Bernasconi as Executive Vice President Strategy & Business Development, reporting to the Group's President & CEO, Roberto Graziani. Ivo Favotto joins Nuance from airport and infrastructure consultants URS Corporation in Australia, where he currently leads the Airport Retail Practice. In this function he has recently supported Nuance in its winning submission for the Sydney tender.

Roberto Graziani states: “I am pleased to announce the creation of a new business division designed to exploit growth opportunities beyond our current field of activities. My thanks go to Carlo Bernasconi for his important contribution to our strategic business development activities thus far. I am convinced that in his new role he will be instrumental in opening up new markets to the Group.”

Welcoming Bernasconi's successor, Graziani explains: “Ivo Favotto is a well-known figure in our industry and brings with him a wealth of experience in the travel retail field. I look forward to working with Ivo and to seeing his contribution to the further growth and success of our business.”
