Asked to rate Australian cotton growers against their global counterparts Adam Kay said Australian growers were leaders in their field.
“We are efficient with our resources and we do produce more lint per hectare than any other country. I think that is a tribute not only to growers, but also to the research community and to the whole cotton community working together, which has been the key thing. When we all work together we have really made some enormous gains and that's really important.”
He rates the tough price environment and water issues as key future challenges.
“It's important in these tough times that everyone bunkers down to look at how we are doing things and to exploit every bit of efficiency that we can to move forward on an industry-wide basis,” Adam Kay said.
