Slight rebound of domestic cotton sales price in Dec

On December 31, 2007, cotton price index of 328 level stood at 12857 yuan per ton compared to 12736 yuan per ton in the beginning of the month, a hike of 121 yuan per ton or 1 percent.
The average price was 12797 yuan per ton in December, a surge of 146 yuan or 1.2 percent over November and decreased of 1348 yuan or 9.5 percent over the same period last year.
Due to hike in purchase price of the cotton, sales price also rose and registered better takings compared to past.
According to Xinjiang supply and marketing body, Xinjiang Corporations and supply and marketing cooperatives purchased a total quantity of 1.4928 million tons and sold 317,000 tons, accounting for 21.2 percent of the procurement.
