Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has been requested to reject textile sector's demand that duty free cotton import from India be sanctioned. Ch Hanif Gujjar, Secretary General, Pakistan Kisan Movement (PKM) made the request.

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) had demanded duty free import. Gujjar wants the Government to discourage this type of proposals, which could harm the interests of local farmers.

He informed the media that spinners are trying to pressurize the Government with their unjust demands. He added that apparel, leather and cement industries also made similar demands in the past.
