Many leading retailers, like Wal-Mart, consider sustainability as important part of their marketing campaign. People usually believe that to be sustainable, the products should be organic.

Cotton is mainly influenced by environmental, trade and government subsidies. But this information is not much clear and misinformation should not be considered as facts.

Technology should not battle between conventional cotton and organic cotton, but it should be between cotton and synthetic fibers.

The myth that only organic can be sustainable should be eliminated. In reality both organic as well as modern agriculture are sustainable.

Cotton has upper hand over synthetics in competition in energy use, water, and toxicity.

According to estimates, demand for textile fibers is increasing at a rate of three to four percent per annum.

In Global market, most of the demand is satisfied by higher yield with no increase in land.
