The 21st Surajkund Mela opened by Sonia Gandhi

Asia's largest handloom and handicrafts fair, the 21st Surajkund Crafts Mela, a 15 day affair, was inaugurated by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi here today.

Gandhi visited various stalls in the fair showing a keen interest in various artifacts and wares of sculptures, metal wares and textiles displayed in the fair.

She was accompanied by Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

SAARC countries and Thailand were the focus country at this year's fair and the Congress President had a special word of appreciation for craftsmen of these countries.

Suraj Kund Mela has more than 320 persons taking part in the mela from various corners of the country.
