Govt to provide relief package to exporters after analysis

Government is thinking over provision of selective relief package to some export sectors, which will restrict inefficiencies in their manufacturing processes at same time. It is considering the various alternatives.

Drawbacks of local producers along with economical advantages offered by competitors to their exporters have affected country's exports. Government is not being able to find any solution to surge exports.

India and China, chief Pakistani competitors, maintained undervalued currencies in the global market which kept their product rates low. This has been a blow for country's exporters.

Another factor impeding exports is that production costs were raised by high inflation in the country, whereas importing nations had low inflation.

Textile industry was provided a relief package of Rs25 billion before, which did not produce much fruit.

Government will decide on relief for all sectors after evaluating the overall situation, with assistance from Commerce, Finance, Textile and Industry Ministries in addition to the private sector and overseas consultant firms.
