In the first ten months 2006, there was a change in importing structure for cotton of Vietnam, as demand at England, France and Belgium sharply increased, decreasing the imports from traditional suppliers like the US, Switzerland and Australia.

Despite of the decreasing demand, the US remained at the top position, accounting for 21.6 percent import turnover, followed by India at 18.9 percent, France at 5.7 percent, England making up for 5.3 percent and Belgium standing at 2.0 percent.

Importing price of the materials was around $1,100–1,340 per ton, in which the price quoted by Taiwan stood at the lowest level at about $1,110 per ton. However, the prices quoted by Senegal and Switzerland were $1,310–1,330 per ton.
