US exports cotton worth $2bn in 2006

In 2006, US emerged as leading supplier of agriculture products to domestic industry.

During this period, cotton imports stood at US$2.288 billion, a hike of 56 percent, compared to 2005.

Cotton ranked second with highest import value and stood fourth at four-digit HTS level.

Even imports of hides and skins too, witnessed surge in value by reaching $780 million last year.

At HTS 6 Digits level, cotton imports were $4868 million, a surge of 52.48 percent.

Whereas, wool imports at HTS 6 level saw an increase of 3.32 percent with goods worth $1,151 million imported from the US.
