Few Malaysian entrepreneurs have entered the Kenyan market to set up the biggest commercial center between Johannesburg in the south and Cairo in the north.
Observing the opportunity, investors from China, India, Korea and other emerging economic giants are planning to foray into the Kenyan market and other East African countries.
The East African region comprising Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda and Burundi with rich natural resources are regarded as unexplored paradise for trade and investment.
Investment opportunities in these countries lay in the manufacturing, trading, services, and infrastructure development along with few other sectors.
Malaysia exported RM252.3 million worth of goods during the last year and imported products worth RM40.2 million from Kenya.
The main Malaysian exports to Kenya include chemicals and chemical products, machinery appliances, textiles.
