Science and Technology Deputy Minister, Patrick Zhuwawo stressed the need to develop biotechnology.
Speaking at inauguration ceremony of National Cotton Association workshop he urged the industry to invest and promote biotechnology sector.
Agriculture Deputy Minister David Chapfika expressed complete support and said that country should not neglect the advancement of genetically modified (GM) crops that assist in improving product quality.
"With this worldwide interest and acceptance of GMO technology and particularly cotton, where major breakthroughs have had a dramatic impact upon production in key competing countries, we cannot sit idly and let our farmers lag behind," he said.
