New regulation curbs Sichuan's shoe exports to Russia

Recently, Government of Russia implemented a new regulation by which foreigners are not allowed to do the business in retail market after January 15, 2007.

This regulation has significantly affected shoe manufacturers of Sichuan province as exports of the region account for 60 percent of total exports to Russia.

Last year, export value stood at US $162 million and 80 percent of women shoes manufactured in Sichuan was exported to Russia.

Chengdu Shoes Commission and China (Sichuan) Western Shoes City Ltd are negotiating with the center for Russian-Chinese economic and trade cooperation.

Various steps are going to be taken by both the sides for development of trade relations.
