During the reporting period, demand for short-term available cotton to fill supply gaps still in the first quarter was slightly higher than in the week before. However, real transactions remained selected.

Notedly weaker cotton quotations in New York quoted approx. 2.50 $-cents per pound below the week before, however reflected in no way the firm offers from the countries of origin.

The Cotlook A Index quoted therefore only 75 points lower than seven days before. Central Asian and West African varieties were mainly traded in a wide quality range, because of their availability.

In the Upland range contracts were registered in Central Asian sorts for prompt and further in the 1st to 2nd quarter 2007; West African types for the same period of time and Greek descriptions for dates in the 1st and 2nd quarter 2007.

From among the ELS/LS varieties were traded: Egyptian GIZA 86 and 88, Israel Pima and Central Asian LS for prompt, as well as Sudan Barakat for prompt and for the 3rd and 4th quarter 2007.
