In order to increase the usage of kente cloth, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Akwasi Osei-Agyei has requested people of Bonwire to start making strategies for improvement in the quality of the fabric.

The Bonwire Kente with its interwoven woven cloth strips can be used to blend other garments and textiles to make it attractive to people.

The Kente cloth has gained international recognition because of its unique design and the Government is taking steps to register and patent all the kente designs in order to prevent imitation and piracy of this cloth.

Elisabeth Ohene, Minister of State at the Office of the President has invited fashion designers to develop this product in order to market and promote the Ghanaian kente as a world class fabric.

Kentefest 2007 started from February 12-18, 2007, in Accra on the theme: 'Discover Ghana...The home of kente'. The objective for the exhibition was to promote kente as a national brand.

The six-day international cultural exhibition is showcasing Adinkra fabrics, batik, tie and dye apparels, African prints and handicraft in metal and bronze, jewellery and beads.
