Textiles - one of the most competitive industries

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, above-scale enterprises in 2006 employed 10.30 million people, up 3.95 percent over the previous year.
Net fixed assets reached 638.1 billion yuan, an increase of 12.53 percent over 2005. Sales value registered 2.4498 trillion yuan, up 21.8 percent over 2005.
Total profits amounted to 88.3 billion yuan, a rise of 27.96 percent over the previous year.
These figures reflect a 16 percent growth of labor productivity in line with comparable prices.
In the past year, China's exports of the whole textile and garment industry reached US $147 billion. This figure has difference compared with that announced in the past.
In the past year, exports to the US were $23.1 billion, up 0.48 percent after deducting price index, an increase of 18 percent according to value.
China's exports to EU reached $22.9 billion, growing 21.68 percent over the same period the previous year, an increase of 8.73 percent compared with export unit after deducting 11 percent of price factor.
Exports to the countries and regions outside the EU and the US amounted to $101.1 billion, up 27.27 percent.
Diversification of the export markets is an important basis for China to cope with the new situation, which is also the positive result of diversifying and exploring markets over the years.
This means China's textile industry has been worldly recognized as one of the suppliers which can provide competitive prices for any quality, any variety and any demand from any region. Textile industry is also one of the world's most competitive industries.
China has 1.3 billion populations, whose consumption is unimaginable. Government has to provide 1.3 million tons of processed fiber if one person increases one kg fiber consumption a year.
