Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI), located at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in Dhaka, is hosting a 12-day diversified jute products (DJPs) fair in its campus.
According to A B M Abdullah, Executive Director, Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC), businessmen are now making vigorous efforts to market DJPs.
Total 360 Bangladeshi entrepreneurs are dealing in DJPs, 250 of them being small and micro organizations.
About 220 DJPs comprising fabric based products, yarn, fibre, carpets, denim, technical and geo textiles, sweaters, blankets, suitcases etc, along with 43 new technologies were identified by JDPC to facilitate businessmen.
Jute market for different products and raw fibre has progressed locally as well as globally, with proper prices being paid to farmers, according to Textiles and Jute Secretary Abdur Rashid Sarker. Steps must be taken carefully to even out jute industry.
