DHL Express, the world's leading express and logistics company, announced that it is restructuring its business in India and the South Asia region. The reorganization has led to the creation of a new region within the Asia Pacific business area to be called South Asia Area.

The South Asia Area will cover India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Bangladesh and Bhutan. The restructuring has been undertaken to facilitate better geographic focus on trade lanes and enhance business opportunities for customers within the region.

The Area Office will be headquartered in Mumbai. With the projected growth rate of the express industry being 17 percent, these changes will further strengthen DHL's market leadership position in anticipation of continued strong growth.

DHL Express also announced the appointment of Malcolm Monteiro as Senior Vice President and Area Director for the South Asia region, as well as a member of DHL Express' Asia Pacific Management Board. Mr. Monteiro, who joins DHL from Blue Dart Express, where he served as Managing Director, will be responsible for charting the growth and development of the Express business in South Asia. He will also oversee the operations of Blue Dart Express, in which DHL has a majority stake, and Blue Dart Aviation.

The restructuring of the business has also led to an expanded role for DHL Express' India Country Manager, Craig Grossgart. Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Nepal, Maldives, Bangladesh and Bhutan will now report to Mr. Grossgart on international express operations.
