World yarn stocks rose in the Third Quarter of 2006 (+1.7%) with inventories increasing in Asia (+2.2%), Europe (+1.0%) and South America (+0.8%). In comparison with last year's Quarter, global yarn inventories increased by +3.4%. With the exception of Europe (-6.0%) all regions reported higher yarn stocks (Asia: +5.8%, South America: +1.3% and North America: +1.1%).
The Third Quarter of 2006 showed lower global fabric stocks compared to the previous Quarter (-0.5%), with North and South America reporting higher inventories (+3.0% and +1.7%, respectively) while stocks in Europe and Asia fell by -2.1% and -0.6%, respectively. On an annual basis, world fabric stocks continued to rise (+7.4%). While Asia's stocks jumped by +36.2% and South America's increased by +3.7%, North America and Europe experienced drops of -16.4% and -8.1%, respectively.
In Europe and Brazil both yarn and fabric orders decreased in the Third Quarter of 2006. The decline in yarn and fabric orders in Brazil reached -3.1% and -1.4%, respectively. In Europe orders were down by -1.7% and -0.4%, respectively. In comparison to last year's Quarter, Brazil's yarn orders were still up by +10.1%, while Europe's were down by -1.3%. With regard to fabric orders on an annual basis, Europe recorded higher and Brazil lower ones (+1.9% and -6.6%, respectively).
