According to the statistics by the Federation of German machinery and equipment manufacturing, manufacturers of textile machinery and accessories exported Euros3.4 billion to the world in 2006. This means that Germany exported about 90 percent of its textile technological products. Among them, exports to China were Euros742 million, accounting for 22 percent of the total exports.
According to Chinese customs statistics, during the first half of 2006, 31 percent of China's textile products were imported from Japan, 25 percent from Germany. Knitting machinery parts imported from Germany grew by 32 percent.
Earlier, Thomas Waldmann, General Manager, Federation of German machinery and equipment manufacturing, said Germany would accelerate exports of high-end textile machinery products and technology to China in 2007.
