Textile Infrastructure Scheme to be completed by March 31

KANCHEEPURAM:
District administration has been asked to complete the Textile City Infrastructure Development Scheme by March 31, 2007, by R Mohan, Deputy Commissioner, Department of Handloom and Textiles.
The officials were called upon to utilize the allotted funds and complete all work planned under the scheme, R Mohan said while reviewing the work.
The work that has to be completed include cementing arterial roads and by lanes, construction of drainages, separate underground pipe lines for cottage-based dying, and installation of a common effluent treatment plant (CET).
Steps to provide job orders to silk weavers on a continual basis and make cooperatives profitable organizations were also initiated while discussing state of affairs of silk cooperatives, attended by officials of silk cooperatives.
Bring in changes in design and quality of silk textiles according to the present consumer trends and increasing wages of silk weavers, were also taken up for discussion.
