Last year, overall consumption of textile fabrics was high as significant increase in the volume of all major categories was witnessed.
In 2006, imports of textile fabrics stood at 4.37338 billion meters and figures reached 414.06 million meters in December, a surge of 6.31 million meters from November.
Moreover, import volume of all the major categories of fabrics in December last year increased from the previous month, except wool.
In fabrics, volume of wool dropped 240,000 meters, silk increased 50,000 meters, cotton expanded 2.16 million meters, flax gained 3.04 million meters and chemical fiber rose by 1.30 million meters.
Nevertheless, import prices of all the textile fabrics in December increased over the previous month, an average growth of US $0.12 per meter.
In import prices, silk fell by US $0.01 per meter, wool fabric rose by US $0.59 per meter, cotton fabrics ascended US $0.16 per meter, flax fabrics gained US $0.1 per meter, chemical fiber fabrics rose by US $0.09 per meter.
