As electricity prices were up by ten percent, National Assembly Standing Committee on Textile Industry urged Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to exempt textile industry from it.
This was suggested in the meeting of standard committee, in which crises faced by textile industry, quality control in ginning and other issues related to gas and sales tax were discussed.
The meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of MNA Ch. Nazir Ahmed Jaat and Fedral Minister for textile industry Mushtaq Ali Cheema suggested the steps to be taken by committee to reduce crisis of textile sector.
Committee also strictly instructed Punjab Government to implement Cotton Control Act, 1966 and upgrade machineries utilized in ginning factories.
