Budget 2007-2008- Focus on agriculture sector

Union Budget 2007-08 has provided the much needed support for agriculture sector to be able to sustain a two-digit GDP growth, believe industrialists and economists.

Economics professor Anup Sinha, IIM Calcutta while speaking at a seminar on budget organised by KPMG and CII said that under present scenario, the budget that was presented was on the right track.

Agricultural sector was very rightly given importance along with right focus to sustain overall growth and a 10 year roadmap should be prepared by the Government for the sector, he said.

The Budget had given a boost to the rural sector which in turn will lead to rise in demand in the economy, said Sanjiv Goenka, Vice Chairman RPG Enterprises.

Managing Director of Bengal Ambuja Housing Development Limited, Harshvardhan Neotia termed the budget as a 'common man's budget.'
