Recently, a cost survey agency conducted an investigation on planting intentions of 16,870 farmers' households in 881 counties of 30 provinces.
The national average household planting area of grain crops is expected to remain stable in 2007. As for economic crops, planting area of cotton, vegetables, and sugar is expected to increase, while tobacco, oilseed acreage is expected to decline.
Average family planting area is expected to be 952 mu in 2007, the same level as last year. Grain is the main agricultural crop varieties, accounting for 68.4 percent of the total planting acreage (one hectare = 15 mu).
In economic crops, average family planting cotton acreage will be 0.87 mu, up 1.5 percent over the previous year.
