New International Expo Center hosted 17th East China Fair, second biggest trade show in the country, between March 1 and 6, 2007. About 3,522 domestic and overseas companies participated this year, with surge in number of businessmen.

Expo is organized by Shanghai Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Commission.

This annual fair comprises four sub-sections of textiles, garments, home decor and consumer goods. It was spread over an area of 1,00,350 square meters.

Nine Governments across East China had co-organized the expo, which is considered significant for textile, clothing and handicraft export sectors in this region as well as entire China.

In order to take benefit of the potential Chinese market, larger number of international enterprises took part at fair this year hence more visitors and deals were witnessed compared to 2006.

Sources informed that 188 stalls were set up by 144 foreign firms from 15 nations and regions at East China Fair this year, as against 120 global companies in 2006. China's new policy of boosting imports to balance trade surplus could have caused this upturn.
