Investment in industrial sector touches AED70bn in 2006

According to a report released by Ministry of State for Finance and Industry, total investment in industrial sector reached AED70.424 billion last year, an increase of AED2.201 billion over 2005.
In 2006, enterprises registered in the country increased by 42.4 percent.
Number of firms registered in past five years rose from 2,509 to 3,567, a whopping hike of 273 percent.
Last year, textile and readymade garments pulled investment worth AED950 million.
Moreover, last year's investment in wood and furniture stood at AED784 million.
In the country, Dubai stood first with 1,433 registered firms followed by Abu Dhabi with 304 firms at the end of last year.
