Pace up exports of non-oil products to US, Ani

In a two-day seminar organized by Nigerian-American Chamber of Commerce along with Multimix Export Agency and the US Commercial Service, Ambassador Olufemi Ani requested manufacturers and exporters to increase exports of 6,400 non-oil products to over 38 million African-American in the US under AGOA.

He told that country always failed to enhance exports in non-oil exports compared to countries like Lesotho, Kenya, Mauritius, Angola and Ghana.

He pointed out that free access of information, awareness and support provided to exporters will be one of the key factors for active participation.

He futher added that this information is provided to exporters through Nigerian AGOA Resource Center in Lagos.

Addressing to participants, Commercial Officer of US Commercial Service Mrs Hannah Kamenetsky revealed that partnership between the Federal Government and Organised Private Sector (OPS) will greatly boost exports of domestic products to US under Generalised Systems of Products.

Commenting on 'Doing Business with US', Commercial Specialist US Embassy, Anayo Agu said that participants should concentrate beyond textile materials as domestic enterprises can never beat Ghana or China in textiles.
