The week under report was uneventful and accordingly there were almost no changes to the week before. The quotations for cotton futures in New York were slightly firmer, however dropped again towards the end of the reporting period. The Cotlook A Index cif North European ports after weak upswing landed precisely as before.
Enquiries by the spinners served more for information than that purchasing interest was mirrored. Also this week, only small turnovers were reported, which only in exceptional cases were fixed beyond the third quarter 2007.
From among the Upland cottons were committed: Central Asian sorts for prompt and further in the 1st and 2nd quarter 2007; West African types for the 1st to 3rd quarter 2007; Chad cotton for the 3rd quarter 2007; Greek descriptions for prompt loading and further in the 1st and 2nd quarter 2007; as well as Indian for prompt and Spanish for the 2nd quarter 2007.
In the ELS/LS range, smaller lots of Egyptian GIZA 70, Israel Pima and Turkish LS were traded for prompt delivery.
