Speaking to the media recently, Luiz Fernando Furlan, Brazilian Minister for Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, informed that growth rate in import of textile products and garments from China has slowed down after the Chinese Government took initiative to reduce exports to Brazil.
Goods imported from China are superior in quality compared to those manufactured in Brazil. The situation is expected to improve if Brazil increases import of advanced machinery.
Furlan criticized corrupt federal policemen and tax officials who help unscrupulous traders to smuggle merchandize. Brazilian Foreign Trade Agency is conducting investigations to seize commodities imported illegally.
