National Craft Expo 07 was launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmed Badawi at Kompleks Kraf Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Conlay on National Crafts Day Wednesday, March 7, 2007.
The event is a kaleidoscope of Malaysian arts and crafts like batik, wood carvings and rattan products by 400 local artists and crafts entrepeneurs.
The Expo is organised by Kraftangan Malaysia and will run until March 18.
Tables and cubicles are displaying fine works using wood, stone, silver, ceramic, cane and textiles, all with a Malaysian touch.
Visitors can take the pleasure in demonstrations of wau (kite) making, traditional Indian pottery and ethnic textile weavings like songket and Rungus.
The expo provides a platform for local craftsmen, artists and business people to market their products.
The National Craft Day event organizers are expecting around over 80,000 visitors and to generate RM6 million sales.
