Textile made-up exports decline

Textile and apparel sector is suffering heavily on both domestic and international market front.

November 2006 exports witnessed strength in several product groups, with some textile export products experiencing growth for the year.

Knitted and crocheted apparel, Portugal's top apparel export group, increased 3.7 percent to 149.75 million euros, and woven apparel exports grew 4.3 percent to 69.016 million euros. While for the whole year both remained weak.

In textile sector, the cotton yarns and fabrics has shown export growth especially in yarns and fabrics and man-made fibers. Manufactured goods exports remained weak, declining 3.2 percent to 62.46 million euros.
