In order to commemorate the 97th International Women's Day, Women Guidance Association (WGA) recently organized a handicraft expo for ladies at Chamber Bhawan in Jamal. WGA is a non government organization working for women's empowerment.
Exhibition showcased handwork based on domestic technology and raw materials as well as items for decoration. Handicraft works made by women were displayed at stalls put up by 30 organizations.
According to WGA Chairperson Mohini Majarjan, expo is held to popularize handicrafts, expand their markets and display the creative skills of craftswomen.
WGA conducts programs like this exhibition to help women generate income and enter Nepalese development mainstream. It is working for women's rights, empowerment, health and literacy countrywide since 1993.
