Suvarna Silk Gramotsava introduced to boost sericulture

Suvarna Silk Gramotsava programme, organised by Zilla Panchayat and Sericulture Department was inaugurated by ZP member, S N Raja Rao at Doddathur near Kushalnagar on Friday.
"Members of Stree Shakti and Self Help Groups can take up sericulture to improve their economic standards," he said.
Distributing subsidy cheques to beneficiaries on the occasion, he informed about several schemes being introduced to boost sericulture in the State by Sericulture Department.
Sericulture Department has adopted one village in each district of the state to promote sericulture, said N Y Chigari, Assistant Director, Sericulture Department
In Kodagu district, Doddathur had been selected to promote sericulture under this project hybrid silk eggs will be breeded to increase production of silk, he added.
Various steps to be taken to grow silk and control diseases was also explained to the stakeholders, he said.
