Government has acquired a policy of trade liberalization and privatization to help farmers.
With the implementation of this policy, farmers in Northern Uganda are quite happy. They sold their cotton at sh450 a kilo in January 2007, up from sh350 in 2005-06.
Now these farmers are free to sell their products to buyers other than cooperative society. The societies used to buy their produce on credit and at very low prices.
These cooperative societies did not pay them in time. But now farmers get paid immediately after they sell their crop.
