Prices of fertilizers hike sharply, adding to the problems of the ailing textile industry.

Industry players are demanding answers and are agitated that they would now be forced to pay the cost of gas for fertilizer manufacturers.

Thus, textile industry has proposed that the Government subsidizes the gas for fertilizer sector, so as to reduce the market price of the products.

Experts have also supported this demand, terming it important and vital for industry's growth.

Ameen Bandukda leading manufacturer of denim and former Chairman of Site Association of Industry (SAI) even went as far as to say, “We don't need any special package (of funds) if the government removes this distortion from gas-pricing system.”
