Pakija Dyeing and Printing, Anlima Yarn Dyeing, HR Textile Mills and Bangladesh Dyeing and Finishing Industries are penalized during a surprise raid by Department of Environment (DoE) along with the armed forces and a mobile court.

These factories had been contaminating the environment by releasing toxic wastes into natural water bodies in Savar. They directly discharge polluted wastes into adjacent Karnapara canal that merges into the Bangshi River.

The utility services like gas and electric services of four dyeing and textile factories have been disconnected. These factories were violating the law by turning off on-site Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) and by not obtaining clearance certificates from the DoE.

The court fined Pakija Dyeing and Printing and Anlima Yarn Dyeing Tk3 lakh each for not having dyeing licences from BSTI.
