Elite negotiators from South Korea and the US held talks for the fourth consecutive day, in an attempt to conclude the proposed FTA between the countries.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun has expressed keen desire to finalize this FTA and said that the deal needed to be mutually acceptable and so both sides required to make some compromises.

Experts believe that the countries will reach a final agreement before the deadline in two days.

South Korea's Assistant Agriculture Minister Min Dong-seok said confidently, “I think both sides can narrow differences and find common ground. Both sides clearly share a view that a deal should be reached in time.”

Promising complete attention to this issue, Roh told the media, "The FTA is the mainstream of the time. I'll do my best to produce the best outcome from the ongoing talks with the US. As head of state, I myself will make the final decision."
