During the first two months 2007, Vietnam exported around US $97 million worth of textile and garment goods to Japanese market, posted year–on–year rise of 9 percent, official sources from MOT informed.
For February only, the figure was $42 million, a 5 percent increase against same period 2006.
In terms of product categories exported to the market, trousers accounted for the biggest share of whole exports turnover, up to 21 percent (more than $20 million), grew 15 percent annually.
In the same line, exports of Kimono dress witnessed increase by 13 percent in volume (86000 sets) and 25 percent in value ($12.5 million).
Other goods gaining big net include elastic shirt, jacket, overcoat, cotton trousers etc.
Experts believe that export to Japan is likely to go up in 2007 as trade delegates of both countries are busy in visiting each others' export import department these days, showing favorable conditions for accelerating exports.
In 2006, exports turnover of the goods from Vietnam to Japan surged 4 percent, $627 million.
