HRH Princess Royal Anne of England, who was on visit to India, had an interaction with the entrepreneurs, mentors and trustees of Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST) at a meeting organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry here on Friday.

Mr. Subodh Bhargava, Chairman, Wartsila Ltd & Trustee, BYST said the visit of the Princess is very special to BYST because it was a little over 10 years ago that HRH Prince Charles launched the BYST and also celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2003.

Mr Bhargava welcomed the gathering, especially the Chief Guest, HRH Princess Royal, Sir Michael Arthur, British High Commissioner and all the members of the BYST Partners, Mentors & its entrepreneurs.

Ms. Lakshmi Venkatesan, Founding Trustee of BYST and Exe.Vice President gave an overview on Bharatiya Yuva Shakti Trust, an NGO that has been supporting the entrepreneurial dreams of the underprivileged youth of India, over the last 14 years.

Ms. Venkatesan added that given the success of mentoring in converting grass roots entrepreneurs into lacpatis and crorepatis, the demand for mentoring has grown enormously across the country. BYST has been lending a helping hand to developing countries like South Africa, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Philippines.

In the past 14 years, BYST has empowered a number of women, people from ethnic minorities as well as the physically challenged in six regions (viz., Delhi, Rural Haryana, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad and Rural Maharashtra)
