A Sarawak handicraft industry development workshop was opened at the Sarawak Tourism Complex on Friday, March 30. Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu inaugurated the event held in conjunction with Handicraft Week.

Around 60 exhibitors are participating in the three-day handicraft sales and exhibition.

In the opening ceremony Datuk Gramong Juna, Sarawak Craft Council's Chairman advised Handicraft wholesalers and retailers to purchase their products from local craftsmen to reduce the import.

There is an increasing supply of local handicraft now. This attempt may help to promote the Sarawak handicraft industry and encourage craft makers to produce more.
