The Italian pavilion too is expected to be a major head turner. The pavilion will be considerably bigger in terms of occupied exhibition space compared to the previous editions. The pavilions from India, Thailand, and Singapore, each with their own distinctive designs and creations, will also have an imposing presence at the Show.

Whereas Hong Kong is known for its affordable designer diamond jewellery, Italian jewellery is synonymous with high-end gold and diamond collections. Indian jewellery, on the other hand, is famous for its intricate designs. Thailand and Singapore are better known for precious stones and gems and medium range designer diamond jewellery respectively.

“The MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show has been experiencing phenomenal growth since it started a decade and a half back,” said Mr. Saif Al Midfa, Director General, Expo Centre Sharjah. “Continuing on that trend, the coming edition will be bigger, both in terms of number of exhibitors and occupied exhibition space. Three halls of Expo Centre Sharjah, measuring a total of 12,000 square metres, will be utilized to host 350 jewellers from across the world. A majority of the exhibitors had participated in the previous editions,” he added.

Mr. Saif Al Midfa explained that the high exhibitor retention rate was largely due to the confidence that jewellers reposed on the event.

“It is probably the only show of its kind in the region that attracts such a large number ofjewellery connoisseurs under one roof,” said Mr. Saif Al Midfa. “It is precisely due to this reason that some of the world's finest jewellers consider the event an ideal platform for launching their new collections in the Middle East every season,” he added.

The last edition of the MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show, which was held from October 30 – November 3, 2006, attracted a total of 40,831 visitors, a majority of whom were from the region. The MidEast Watch and Jewellery Show is an initiative of Expo Centre Sharjah. It is supported by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the World Gold Council (WGC).
