Tie-ups in offsets: CII, EADS meet

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the apex industry chamber working deeply in the area of defence will be organising a major industry interaction in partnership with the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS) on Wednesday, in New Delhi.

With the announcement of Offsets in Defence in 2005 by the Ministry of Defence, global players are in the process of identifying potential Indian companies for tie-ups and this interaction is intended to give both EADS and Indian Industry an opportunity to meet and collaborate and develop a partnership in offsets, a press release issued by CII said.

India's dynamic market, its rapidly developing aerospace and defence industry and its vast potential for research and development, services and manufacturing make India a vital partner for the future of EADS, which is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. The interaction will give an opportunity to major Indian companies to have a dialogue with EADS through one-to-one business meetings, the release said.

Key speakers for the interaction include Dr Kiran Chadha, Joint Secretary Exports, Ministry of Defence; Mr A K Saxena, Past Vice Chairman, CII Karnataka State Council and Managing Director, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Bangalore Complex; Mr Yves Guillaume, CEO, EADS India Pvt Ltd; Air Cmde (Retd) Jasjit Singh , AVSM, VrC, VM, Director, Centre for Air Power Studies.

EADS in the interaction will be well representedby its various divisions like Eurocopter Helicopters; EADS CASA; EADS Astrium; EADS Defence and Security; MBDA Missiles.

Over 75 Indian Companies are expected to participate in this interaction. Major Indian companies participating in this interaction include Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, Tata Group, Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Mahindra Defence Systems, Infosys Technologies and Wipro Technologies Ltd, the release added.
