Recycled clothing trade growing fast

Business of second hand clothes is catching up very fast all over the world and Fiji is not lagging behind. These vintage clothes' shopping has become so popular that people of all walks of life are buying clothes.

This is now an important section of the clothing trade and recently has seen such a growth that some believe it may pose a threat to the local textile industry.

Most towns in Fiji have shops dealing in second-hand clothes.

Supreme Company is one of the popular second-hand clothing shops in the country. According to Damodar Prasad, Director, the fresh clothe business is facing competition and traders have to work hard for sales.

The 2005 OXFAM reports revealed that second-hand clothing industry does a trade of more than US $1 billion each year.
