Apparel Export and Promotion Council (AEPC) has decided to set up an Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) in Dharampuri which may help unemployed youth to get occupation.

With Center's acceptance, lands are identified for establishment of the institution. According to official sources, the institute will start operating within a one month.

The State Government is planning to provide machinery worth Rs30 lakh and AEPC would provide the recurring cost.

After a 45-day training, selected youth can start working at garment units in Tirupur.

Around 40 stitching units are operating in Dharmapuri region, employing about 1500 women.

Tirupur and Bangalore textile factories are hiring skilled workforce from Dharampuri. The training institute would create a strong supply base for major garment manufacturers and the proposed textile parks.
