RIP to provide training to Sivaganga youth

P Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister inaugurated the Rural Industrialisation Programme (RIP) organised by the Small Industrial Development Bank of India (SIDBI) in Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu on Sunday, April 8.

Started in 90s, the RIP programme has been executed in 81 districts covering 25 states across the country. It facilitated around one lakh young entrepreneurs and SIDBI helped to establish around 22,400 small industrial units.

The Karnataka based NGO RUDSET Institute will help to execute the RIP project in Sivaganga district.

RIP programme provided training to jewelry artisans of Karaikudi block in modern jewellery-making and setting of diamonds at the Dr Dharmamabal Polytechnic in Chennai. This attempt has received appreciation from artisans across the country.

K R Periyakaruppan, Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, MLAs S Gunasekaran and Sundaram, District Collector M A Siddique, SIDBI Executive Director V Chandrasekaran and Rural Development and Self Employment Training (RUDSET) Institute Executive Director Yaligar were present at the opening function.
