Ekoteks, Turkey's only laboratory accredited by international bodies, and selected as the reference lab by the EU, has opened a branch in Egypt.
Ekoteks in Cairo was opened on January 11 by Minister of State Kursad Tuzmen under the aegis of "Trade Committee Program" (January 9-12).
Now textile and ready-to-wear manufactures in Egypt will have the quality of their products tested much faster, at half the usual cost.
Ekoteks had originally been founded by the Istanbul Ready-to- Wear and Apparel Exporters Association in 1998 with an investment of US $5 million, on an 1800 square meter area. The branch in Cairo signifies the choice of Egypt as a new base of textile production. Now, worldwide manufacturers from Turkey, USA and UK will become more competitive since they will have samples tested promptly in their country of production.
