New ethylene complex in Wuhan!

Recently, having assessed by the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources and the State Environmental Protection Agency, the State Development and Reform Commission (SDRC) formally approved the 800,000 tons ethylene project to be located in Wuhan City.
It is reported that the project will rely on the refinery facilities of China Petrochemical Wuhan Branch. Total investment will reach 14.67 billion Yuan.
The project includes eight sets of main production facilities, with an annual output of 800,000 tons of ethylene, 300,000 tons of linear low density polyethylene, 300,000 tons of high-density polyethylene, 100,000 / 380,000 tons of ethylene oxide / ethylene glycol, and 400,000 tons of polypropylene.
Of which, ethylene glycol is the main raw material for polyester production.
According to Wuhan authority, the project is the only layout of large-scale petrochemical projects in China's central part during the '11th Five-Year Plan' period.
After the completion of the project in 2010, Wuhan city will become the largest chemical industry base and major raw material production base, such as chemical fiber products, in central China.
