World Bank likely to fund Tajikistan cotton sector

The report analyses symptomatic weaknesses of the capacity for policy formulation and implementation, besides identifying weak capacity of producers to organize alternative processing and marketing outlets.
Tajik government has accorded top priority to debt resolution for agriculture sector, and has formed an Independent Commission (IC) to manage this process. Government has also sought World Bank assistance to resolve the debt crisis and address relevant policy issues.
According to the report, a Project Implementation Unit will be set up in the Office of the President, to facilitate interaction with the State Advisor on Economic Policy appointed as the project counterpart.
