Director-General Pascal Lamy, in a video address to the annual meeting of the International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO Joint Advisory Group in Geneva on 26 April 2007, said a successful conclusion to the Round would result in a more development-friendly trading system and bigger trade flows for developing countries.
He expressed full support to the ITC's trade-promotion programmes for developing countries.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) is the only global international organization dealing with the rules of trade between nations.
At its heart are the WTO agreements, negotiated and signed by the bulk of the world's trading nations and ratified in their parliaments. The goal is to help producers of goods and services, exporters, and importers conduct their business.
